What We Do

Parcelify provides shipping rate calculations to Shopify merchants. When you shop with a merchant using Parcelify, you see shipping rates calculated by our service. You may also have the option to select “protected” shipping rates that include Parcelify Protect coverage.

Information We Collect

For All Orders (Protected and Unprotected)

When a merchant uses our shipping rate calculation service, we receive from Shopify:

Customer Information:

• Name, email address, and phone number
• Shipping and billing addresses
• IP address, browser type, and device information

Order Information:

• Product details (name, SKU, ID, price, marketing information)
• Order weight, dimensions, and quantities
• Cart and checkout information

Technical Information:

• Information that Shopify may send us through their APIs, including tracking pixels, web beacons, and other data collection technologies

We collect this information to provide accurate shipping calculations, support merchant operations, and provide customer service when needed.

How Long We Keep Your Information

All Orders - Operational Data

• Standard retention: Up to 90 days for merchant support, customer service, and operational purposes
• Typical deletion: Most data is deleted within 30 days, with 90 days as our maximum retention for operational data
• Team access: Searchable by our team for 30 days, then accessible only to founders

Protected Orders (Parcelify Protect) - Additional Retention

If you select Parcelify Protect shipping protection, we retain additional records for insurance compliance:

• Name and shipping address: Retained for 7 years as required by our insurance partner
• Order details and tracking information: Retained for 7 years for insurance and regulatory compliance
• Claims documentation: Retained as needed to process and support claims

Log Data

• System logs are scrubbed of personally identifiable information
• Non-personal aggregate data may be retained indefinitely for service improvement

Service Providers

All subprocessors listed act solely under our instruction and do not use your data for any other purpose. See Clever Few Subprocessors for a complete list.

• AWS (PostgreSQL): Secure data storage and hosting
• Elasticsearch: Search functionality for operational data
• Shipsurance: Insurance administration for protected orders. Customer name, shipping address, and order metadata may be shared as required for regulatory compliance, claim processing, and fulfillment of coverage. Shipsurance acts as an independent controller for these purposes.
• HelpScout: Customer support platform

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information to comply with legal obligations, court orders, or to protect our rights and safety.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for marketing purposes.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

Important Limitations

• Where required by our insurance partner, records may be retained or disclosed in legal or regulatory proceedings for up to 10 years.

• We can only process requests during our retention periods (up to 90 days for operational data)
• For protected orders, we cannot delete insurance records during the 7-year regulatory retention period
• We can only process requests for orders where we can verify your identity and locate your information

Data Security

Where required for insurance compliance or audit obligations, data may be retained securely for up to 7 years and made available to authorized partners for verification purposes.

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• 256-bit encryption for data transmission and storage
• Regular security assessments and monitoring
• Limited access controls and team permissions
• Secure cloud infrastructure and data centers
• Personal information is scrubbed from system logs

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in Canada and the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any international transfers.

Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to Our Data Practices

As our service evolves and integrates with Shopify’s platform, we may receive additional types of information through their APIs. This policy covers all information we may receive to ensure we can continue providing accurate shipping calculations and merchant support.
